Ms. Luba Gulyaeva completed her training at the prestigious Vaganova Ballet Academy in St. Petersburg, Russia, studying under N.V. Baltacheyeva. She joined the Kirov (Maryinsky) Ballet Company in 1972, performing principal roles in classical masterworks including Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, Giselle, and Don Quixote.
Her teaching career began in 1980 at the Botsford School of Dance in Rochester, New York, where she instructed intermediate and advanced ballet students. From 1988–1989, Mikhail Baryshnikov invited her to the faculty at the American Ballet Theatre School. She subsequently taught at Steps Ballet Studio in New York and the Australian Ballet School in Melbourne.
Gulyaeva is recognized as one of the finest teachers of the Vaganova ballet system and classical repertory. She has coached competitors for the International Ballet Competition in Jackson, Mississippi and the Prix de Lausanne, while offering master classes nationwide and at the School of American Ballet in New York City.
